Potential clients often ask us if the villa of their interest is within walking distance from the amenities.
We dedicated this blog post to the relativity of distances. Nothing too scientific… please read on 🙂
Usually guests can easily walk towards amenities as the distances are not quite large. However… walking to and fro your rented property can be a challenge for the guests from relative flat countries. The distances are less relevant than the differences in altitude to be negotiated.
Sure, it’s easy enough to walk downhill from your villa towards the supermarket, which usually are close to ongoing roads, hence at (or near) sea level. But walking uphill with heavy bags of groceries in the summer heat of August might prove a challenge for those with the unaccustomed leg muscles.
Apply the same situation having enjoyed a couple of G&T’s before a good meal, accompanied with some great Spanish wines, and having to walk home in the sweltering heat of the evening. No fun! (a fact which is not helped by the absence of street lighting).
That is why we always advise our guest to arrange some form of motorized transport when enjoying the holidays. It’s easy to rent a car or even a scooter. Of course it’s not endorsed to drive up to the villa having had the aforementioned beverages, but you would have guessed that 😉
Luckily taxi services are readily available, although there might be some waiting time during the high season.
